Jill and Shawn Engagement Shoot

Leave it to me to leave my camera battery at home and miss the first part of the engagement shoot, but thankfully I got the battery in time (thanks to my hubby Jon) to take these Lovely photos of my cousin Jill and her fiancé Shawn. These are only a few of my unedited photos.
Major shout out to Andrea Dozier and her ever inspiring ideas and style! I feel so honored to be able to tag along with her on some of her shoots and learn a thing or two!

Nerd Alert

Have you ever watched a movie and totally missed the whole plot because you were too distracted with some small detail? Well I have numerous times and normally it is because of some fabulous interiors.
So today "It's Complicated" happened to be on tv... and I thought Oh Yes!.... not because I like the movie, or the plot or even the actors...... but because Meryl Streep has my dream kitchen in the movie. Im not sure exactly what it is... but I love it. It is simple, sort of rustic, cozy and functional! Check it out!

Weekend uniform

Weekend uniform

Weekend uniform by katie-mae-snider-leavell featuring gold sunglasses

Sorry I have been MIA lately, but there has been a lot going on around here!
News #1
My sister (Abby) is pregnant!
She is due in November and I am so excited to spoil that little nugget!

News #2
Jon and I are building a house!
We will move in in December and we are crazy busy trying to get things in order.

Anyway I have been so busy... with the new job, restraining myself from buying baby clothes too soon,  and dealing with all the details of building a house.
In the meantime I put together a little outfit that is going to get my through a lot of this summer! I purchased a maxi and I am finding that it is appropriate for all occasions.......
baby shower ...... check
shopping with friends.......check
dinner date with hubby...... check
If you haven't jumped on the Maxi dress train, I highly recommend it. It can be casual with some flats and a cute jean jacket and dressed up with some cute jewlery and some snazzy shoes!

Enjoy.

Posts to follow..... Abby's Baby Shower! Engagement shoot with Cousin (Jill)! Progress of the build!

Chambray Love

Chambray is popping up everywhere and I am planning my first purchase.
You know at first I was like umm..... Canadian Tuxedo? But now I'm beginning to love it. I think there are lots of options as far as what will go with a Chambray shirt... perhaps dark denim, a colored jean, or maybe even white denim. I love the idea of a chambray top with dark denim, pop of color bag, and a cute pair of flat sandals!
Below are 3 different chambray tops with 3 different price points! Enjoy!

Neon Love

So how is everyone feeling about Neon? I really want to take the plunge but it is intimidating.... So I'm thinking about taking it one step at a time and maybe getting a neon yellow clutch, or perhaps a neon pink shoe.  There is part of me that wants to Dive In and go all out neon! But there is this fear of looking like a clown! I'd love to hear feed back on how you all feel about Neon! How are you going to incorporate into your wardrobe this season?

New Job = New Outfits

Monday is the first day of my new job and I am so excited! I'm most excited for the opportunity to make some new outfits! My dress code for the new job is black, white and or ivory. Black and white is so simple, classic and timeless... so I couldn't be happier with that. But the fun part will be all the accessorizing!  I'm a firm believer that accessorizing can make or break an outfit. With the Black and White as a backdrop.... skies the limit. But I'm sticking to 2 ideas.... Neutral & Pops of Color. For neutrals I'm thinking... gold, blacks, and metallic. And for Pops of colors I'm thinking Fuschia and Turquoise!

Of the moment..

So I don't know if you have noticed, but it seems the fashion trend of the moment is colored jeans.  And I am thinking I really need to try out this trend.  I was a bit afraid of it to begin with... but now I'm feeling like anyone can pull it off.  So... I found this amazing website where you can create these look books ... and man it is so much fun. Sort of addicting really.  If you guys like these I am happy to post more... (there is probably going to be one later involving my new dress code for my new job!)
So anyway.. I created 3 ways to rock the colored jean... also I tried to find pieces all under $100. I am sure you can create these looks for much less too.

Ash Wednesday

So I don't know about you but this whole "20 something" out of college age has sort of been tough. There have been a lot of ups and downs over the past few years. But I will say as I near the later years of my twenties... I am feeling better about who I am. I am trying to be content where I am in life without wishing for more or regretting past decisions.

But I will say one thing that has been a huge factor in that has been my faith.  More specifically a sermon I heard a few months back while at Ginghamsburg Church given by Nick.  It was one of those sermons that when I left my mom said... that was meant for you! And boy was it...... something sort of profound and yet so simple... that sometimes what we are called to do we just have to do.... maybe it isn't your day job, or even pays the bills...but it fulfills us and that is enough.

It seems for me a common reoccurring theme in that I couldn't find a paying job that fulfilled me creatively.  And I feel like I searched for that mythical career for the past few years, and over and over again I would be disappointed.

So anyway... it was my mom who inspired me to contact Ginghamsburg and see if I could offer my artistic skills.

A few weeks ago I timidly went to Ash Wednesday service to take pictures (as requested). I was so nervous, and I will say I wish I would have gotten closer and have tried some different setting on my camera.... but to my surprise they liked the pictures.  So I will take this as a learning experience and press on.

Sunday Morning

We have this great nature preserve near us called Aullwood. Every year they have a pancake breakfast with amazing maple syrup from the preserve and of course pancakes, eggs and sausage.  So Yum!! Anyway we were fortunate this year to go with my grandparents.
Well I couldn't resist bringing my camera to get a few shots. I tried to get some pictures of the birds... but those quick guys are hard to catch.
I will say I fall victim to that false thought that in winter there isn't much outside to take pictures of... everything seems to brown and grey. But this morning I couldn't take my eyes off some very interesting textures I found amongst all they grey and brown. And Hydrangeas are just as beautiful in the winter as they are in the spring... just a different kind of beautiful. Enjoy the pics!
